FAQs

Q?ARE THERE QUANTITY DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE?
A.

YES! Over the years SCI has been successfully providing economical, on time, reliable, innovative products and services to many Fortune 500 companies where large program orders and quantity discounts have been beneficial to both SCI and our customers. We do sell our standard warehouse products on a “one off” basis. Our basic quantity discount structure begins with a minimum of 10 of our standard in stock products, extends to custom colors and configurations of our standard warehoused products with minimum purchases of 25 or more shipped all at the same time and ends with large corporate programs of several thousand custom products. We will customize quantity discount schedules to comply with customers needs.

Q?HOW DURABLE IS POWDER COATING VS PAINTING?
A.

If properly cleaned prior to coating, there is no difference in the adhesion between painting and powder coating . Powder coating is harder and more abrasion resistant. There are no sags or runs. No need for a prime coat, powder coating is bonded directly to the metal. Powder coating is more UV stable and able to withstand exterior environments. Liquid painting often looks different on horizontal and vertical surfaces. Powder coating looks the same. The powder coating processes is more environmentally friendly, no solvents, easier clean up, less energy to cure, inert (not absorbed through the skin)

Q?WHAT SIZES OF CASTERS ARE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR CARTS?
A.

After years of manufacturing commercial diagnostic carts that are used in wide range of environments we have settled on one caster that has proven to give our customers the best overall performance at the most economical costs. The 5″ diameter x 1″ width commercial plate, swivel casters (2 with breaks) we use for our carts uses a standard hole pattern for installation. This particular hole pattern allows us the flexibility (if need be) to mount casters from 2 1/2″ to 8″ diameter, made with a variety of tread materials, bearing types and caster widths of 1″ – 2″. If you would like to request a particular caster (other than our standard caster) , you would need to send us a written request, specify the caster dimensions, bearing type, tread type, along with the quantities you require and we will quote per your request.

Q?WHAT ACCESSORIES CAN I ADD TO YOUR CARTS?
A.

Most of our carts are designed so that a number of accessories can easily be added as the customer needs change. In carts where we list available accessories, mounting holes are pre punched for easy installation. In many cases accessories can be added by drilling a few holes in the cart. These accessories are in kit form. The kits include the accessory, mounting hardware and installation instructions. The accessory kits currently available include:

a. Heavy duty flat screen monitor bracket kit.

b. APC 7 outlet surge protector kit with a $50K insurance policy

c. 15′ power cord kit. We manufacture several kits that include the accessory necessary hardware and installation instructions

d. Fan/filter kit for the “Barato” Cart

Q?CAN I CUSTOMIZE THE COLOR OF MY CART?
A.

SCI’s manufacturing policy has always been: With a minimum order of 25 carts shipped all at the same time, SCI will custom color powder coat any of our carts currently in production with a large selection of colors AT NOT ADDITIONAL CHARGE. There may be an additional charge if the color or finish is not in our current selection. We ask that you put your color request in writing and we will send you a color chart of our current selections and/or we will quote you custom colors and finishes that may fit your needs.

Q?CAN I GET CONDUCTIVE, STATIC DISAPATING, CASTERS FOR MY CART, IF SO WHAT SIZES ARE AVAILABLE?
A.

Yes. We have available swivel, plate casters that mount with our existing carts that use the same hole pattern as our current casters. The sizes available vary from 3″ -6″ diameter and widths from 1″-2″. If you would like to specify a particular conductive caster, you would need to send us a written request for the particular caster, sizes, bearing type and quantity and we will quote per your request.

Q?CAN YOU SUPPLY/ADD A CUSTOM LOGO?
A.

Yes. You will need to supply us with a color high definition PDF of the logo, with the overall dimensions of the finished logo and the quantity you are requesting. Many of the commercially manufactured logos do not have the correct adhesive that will adhere to textured powder coating. Therefore we prefer having logos manufactured locally. We will apply logos supplied by SCI or our customers (with minimum orders of 25 units shipped all at one time) but we will not guarantee the quality or the ability to adhere to the powder coating of the logos supplied by our customers.

Q?WHAT HAVE YOU DESIGNED INTO YOUR CARTS FOR CABLE MANAGEMENT?
A.

We consider cable management to be a primary concern in all the carts we manufacture. Our carts have integrated plastic grommeted wire ways to allow wires to run through out the cart, heavy duty cable wraps and a number of plastic cord clips to help manage your cable needs. In may cases our carts come with extra pre-punched mounting holes to add additional cable wraps and cord clips to help customize the cart to your particular needs. Additional cable wraps and cord clips need to be ordered separately.

Q?HOW LARGE OF A MONITOR CAN I PUT ON YOUR HEAVY DUTY FLAT SCREEN MONITOR BRACKET?
A.

Our heavy duty flat screen monitor bracket is designed to safely secure your monitor to the cart. The welded bracket is bolted to the top surface of the cart with 4- 1/4″ carriage bolts. There are the both sets of the standard dimension monitor mounting holes on the mounting plate. Because of the mobility of the cart in a typically congested garage/manufacturing environment we do not recommend you use monitors larger than a 24″.
